Julia Roos

Operations Manager

 

Julia Roos is the Operations Manager for the Labriola Innovation Complex. As the Operations Manager, Julia works with the Labriola Innovation Hub Director and Shop Manager to lead day-to-day building and makerspace operations.

Previously at Mines, Julia served as the Associate Director of Humanitarian Engineering to lead program operations and support the strategic growth of the Humanitarian Engineering program as well as mentoring Humanitarian Engineering students and working with internal and external partners to expand the reach and impact of Humanitarian Engineering at Mines. She also administered an interdisciplinary, multi-institution, and global research collaboration funded by the US National Science Foundation to co-design socially responsible and sustainable mining practices with communities, engineers, and social scientists.

Prior to her position at Mines, Julia was a consultant with a systems change strategy and evaluation consulting firm, where she supported strategic planning efforts, facilitated community and stakeholder engagement, and managed multi-disciplinary systems-level evaluation projects. Her past experience also includes examining and evaluating the human health effects of environmental exposures and identifying and understanding community and population health impacts and disparities. Julia graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering and from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health with a master’s degree in Environmental Health; she also completed the graduate certificate in Humanitarian Engineering at Colorado School of Mines.
